The Two Oldest Americans, Dina Manfredini And Mamie Reardon, Passed Away Within Sixteen Days Of Each Other

My Friends: I have very sad news for you. Within sixteen days, we lost two Super-Centenarians: Dina Manfredini, who was born in the year 1897, and Mamie Reardon, who was born in the year 1898.

115-year-old Dina Manfredini, held the title of The Oldest Person In The World when she passed away on December 17, 2012. She was the Planet's Oldest Resident for two weeks and was one of only three people alive who were born in the year 1897. Dina also holds the distinction of being the Oldest Italian-Born Person Ever. During World War II, she worked on an assembly line filling shells with gunpowder in Ankeny, Iowa and shoveled snow at 106 years of age (Source: http://www.desmoinesregister.com/article/20040227/NEWS03/121204032/Borsellino-She-lives-life-own-terms-106?nclick_check=1).

Mamie Rearden, The Oldest Woman In America, passed away at the age of 114 on January 2, 2013. Her daughters made the announcement today (Source: http://news.yahoo.com/sc-woman-oldest-living-us-citizen-dies-114-192041113.html ... Yahoo news links are known to expire so we will see how long this article lasts on the world wide web). Some personal information: Mamie began a career as a teacher in 1918, got married in 1919, had eleven children and was widowed in 1979. She was the Fourth Oldest Living Person In The World and the Oldest Living Black Person on the Planet.

R.I.P. to both of these ladies.

This means that there are only FIFTEEN People on Earth who were born in the 1800s. Again, only FIFTEEN People remain from that century!
