The Islamic Republic Of Iran Spins The Recent Protests In The Arab World

Of course the Islamic Republic Of Iran is going to spin the protests in Tunisia, Egypt and elsewhere in the Arab World. Check out the nonsense spewed in Kayhan (a daily newspaper in Iran) and Iranian state television. You will laugh or be appalled or be nauseated.

Here is the article - http://www.rferl.org/content/egypt_unrest_view_from_iran/2290385.html

The regime claims the recent uprisings were inspired by Ruhollah Khomeini's Islamic Revolution of 1979 which is, if nothing else, odd since most of the Protesters were born AFTER 1979 (some more than a decade after 1979). These young people know of Khomeini's lies, deceptions and hijacking of a movement and the subsequent monstrosity of a society his revolution created. Furthermore, besides grievances pertaining to poverty and unemployment, the Protesters in North Africa are marching for greater personal freedom and human rights. The demand for personal freedom and human rights is completely in line with and exactly parallels the demonstrations and protests that followed Iran's disputed election of 2009 ... the same demonstrations and protests the Islamic regime was so determined to smash.

Are the protests "taking place in the name of Islam" as the Iranian regime claims? The answer is no. The protests in Tunisia and Egypt have been non-sectarian. As testament to the fact of the Egyptian movement's non-sectarian nature, when a few members of Egypt's banned political party known as the Muslim Brotherhood entered a demonstration chanting "Allah Akbar", the rest of the crowd drowned them out with their own chants of "Muslim, Christian, we're all Egyptian." The spin-doctors within the Islamic Republic Of Iran are completely ignoring the realities on the ground. It is no surprise the regime would issue some sort of statement on this matter and use the uprisings to spew their typical nonsensical rhetoric. The regime is delusional as always and their spin machine reflects this.
